Hi! I am Amy Jo, mother to one creative and passionate little girl and wife to one incredibly hardworking and supportive husband. We are blessed to have had 15 years so far with our beloved 16 year old shepherd mix pup! I love time with family and loved ones, dancing, singing, reading, walks with the pup (which are much shorter these days), pilates, barre, hiking and anything in nature. I am so grateful to live near the glorious Colorado mountains and I try to enjoy them as much as possible throughout Colorado's beautiful seasons. My happy place though, is walking along the beach and breathing in the warm salty air that only the ocean can provide. I also love to travel and actually taught overseas in Asia for close to 5 years; which led to lots of opportunities to travel all around Southeast Asia. I am a homeschooling mama with a background in teaching elementary education.
After 10 years of teaching Kindergarten, First and Fourth Grades, as well as receiving my Master's in Education, I decided to leave a system that I could no longer support or change. Not long after changing careers, I experienced being a mom for the first time. I could not imagine putting my daughter into the public school system that I left and that is what led me to the homeschooling community. Through my experience as an elementary education teacher and a homeschooling mom navigating all the questions, I gained insight and knowledge around different philosophies and approaches to learning. I am here to guide you through all the questions and support you in finding your own family's homeschool approach and philosophy. If you prefer to have your child evaluated, rather than tested, in compliance with Colorado State Homeschool Law and/or your umbrella school's guidelines, I can give your child(ren) an evaluation based on your family's homeschool approach, values and needs.
